Using the Pimoroni InkyFrame as a Google Calendar Display

After a year and a half of off-and-on work, I’ve finally gotten my E-Ink Calendar project in a working state. Since it took me so long, I wanted to document a bit about how it works and some of the things I learned while working on it. First, though, some explanation for why I started this project in the first place. I have a large family—5 kids—with children ranging from their late teens to... Read more.

2025 Books Read

Just like in my last post, 2025 was a busy year so I didn’t read as many books as I wanted. I still did get through a fairly decent number of books, though! In 2025, I read a total of 10 books, mostly at the beginning of the year with a few near the end of the year. Most of the books on here are fiction but I did also complete two non-fiction, programming books. Let’s Go by Alex... Read more.

2025 Album Reviews

A little into 2026, but 2025 was a busy year and I’m only barely getting back into things. Here are some quick reviews of albums that I enjoyed in 2025! I’m still doing my best to purchase more music and support artists more directly, slowly building up my album collection and I fully intend on doing more of that in 2026. Perverts - Ethel Cain Favorite Track: Pulldrone I hadn’t... Read more.

Sharing the RSS Feeds I Follow

Inspired by Axel Leroy’s feeds page, I have published the list of feeds that I follow as a Blog Ring. Though it isn’t quite the same as webrings of old, it is in the same spirit. Sharing my feeds is especially important given how the quality of search is terrible and getting worse. Each of the feeds I follow are all sites that I’ve added since I started using RSS back around the... Read more.

2024 Books Read

The books I read for 2024. Just like I did in 2023. The Books I read a total of 15 books this year, slightly more than I did last year. I mixed in a few more non-fiction books this time around but I’m still trying to stick more to the fiction since I’m reading for enjoyment, not just learning. I also read several more physical books this year, too. The Dune books, Dawn, Adulthood Rites... Read more.

2024 Album Reviews

A short review of albums I liked in 2024. Coagulated Bliss - Full of Hell The album art reminds me of the Dillinger Escape Plan. This is another solid album from Full of Hell. The sound feels like a continuation of Garden of Burning Apparitions but maybe a bit of a step back to a warmer sound to the mixing. Overall, I really like this album! Favorite track: Fractured Bonds to Mecca Coagulated... Read more.

Linkdump 2024-09-26

A while back I dropped Feedly in favor of Feedbin, but one thing that I lost in the process was my Feed Favorites automation. Feedly had a place where I could add comments and then retrieve them with the API so I had written a small automation to pull my favorite links and post them each month. I still haven’t automated this again but I wanted to share articles I’ve read recently so... Read more.

Trying out C

Learning C has been on my list for some time now and for the last few weeks I’ve been using an excellent guide to learn more about C. That guide is Beej’s Guide to C Programming, which I stumbled across when looking at Build your own Redis with C/C++. The Guide has been an incredibly useful walkthrough of C, starting with the basics and working your way up. I’m about half way... Read more.

iOS Share Extension with SwiftUI and SwiftData

Writing a Share Extension for iOS using SwiftUI and SwiftData was an exercise in trial-and-error along with a frustrating lack of documentation from Apple. I could find very few resources on how to develop a Share Extension and want to share what I’ve learned in case it might help others out. I’d love to hear other people’s experiences with this so if you have something you can... Read more.

Books I Read in 2023

Back in March I bought myself a Kobo Libra 2 that completely changed how many fiction books I had read. Now that we’re at the end of the year, I’ve read fourteen books. Of those books, all but one have been from the local library. The Books Dodger, by Terry Pratchett Leviathan Wakes, by James S.A. Corey Caliban’s War, by James S.A. Corey Abbadon’s Gate, by James S.A. Corey... Read more.
